What's Multimedia Fusion? Is it the sequel to The Games Factory/Multimedia Fusion 1.5
Multimedia Fusion 2 is the latest product of a range of products called the "Click" range, which contains Klik & Play, Click & Create, The Games Factory 1.06 and Multimedia Fusion 1.5. So, yes, it can be called a sequel to The Games Factory and MMF. Yet, it is truly a different product, with much more powerful features and interface.
Our latest product range consists of three versions. First there is The Games Factory 2 (TGF2), secondly there is Multimedia Fusion 2 (MMF2) and finally there is Multimedia Fusion 2 Developer (MMF2 Dev). What you intend to create will depend on which version you will require.
TGF2 is for making games and screensavers. You can sell any creation you make with it, but the final game you make will have a Clickteam splash screen. You will not be able to use 3rd party extensions, but Clickteam may add to the ones already present over time.
If you are looking at making games, screensavers and multimedia applications, then you would select either MMF2 or MMF2 Dev. There are differences between the two products, which can be found on the following page : http://www.clickteam.com.
If you create any commercial product with MMF2 you must follow the logo guidelines that are included. This includes placing any logos on boxes and copyright text in the credits of any creation you make. If you do not want to display any logo or credit text, you would need to purchase MMF2 Dev which removes this restriction.
Where can I find the latest update patch for MMF?
You can find it in the download area of our web site. Connect to http://www.clickteam.com, click on the Download link, click on Multimedia Fusion and locate the patch in the page.
What are the main improvements in comparison with TGF 1.06 & MMF 1.5
So many improvements that a full list a feature would be too long here. Download the demo for more information.
Is MMF2 more complicated to use than TGF2
No not at all. Clickteam made changes to the core products, so there is now an easy transition for anyone using TGF2 to easily move to MMF2 if they so wish. In fact visually the programs are near identical, the main difference being the power of the programs (what you can make with them).
Is there a downloadable version of MMF2?
Yes there is, it is a 30 MB file that contains a 60 day demo of Multimedia Fusion 2. To download it connect to http://www.clickteam.com, click on the "Download" link, then click on Multimedia Fusion and locate the Multimedia Fusion Demo in the page.
Can I sell my applications created with MMF?
Yes you can, providing you insert the Fueled by Fusion logo and agree to the Fueled by Fusion Runtime Distribution Agreement. If you cannot or do not want to insert the Fueled by Fusion logo in your application, you can purchase the Developer version of MMF which allows you to remove this.
What's the Fueled by Fusion Runtime Distribution Agreement, and where can I find it?
The runtime distribution agreement is a digital contract that allows you to sell your applications created with Multimedia Fusion or Multimedia Fusion Express. Basically it specifies that you won't publish anything against the law and that you insert in your application the Fueled by Fusion logo. You can find this agreement and the logo in the Download section : connect to http://www.clickteam.com, click on the "Download" link, then click on Multimedia Fusion and locate the Multimedia Fusion Runtime Information link in the page.
What's the Developer version of MMF2? In which case do I need it to sell my applications?
The Developer version is an enhanced version of MMF which allows you to sell your application without inserting the Fueled by Fusion logo (note that, according to the Fueled by Fusion agreement, freeware and shareware authors do not need the PRO license if they want to sell their application without logo). The additional features of MMF Developer are:
- a Version Information property in the Application properties, which allows you to modify the information displayed in the Version tab of your executable.
- a Trial Period object, which allows you to create demo versions limited in time.
- a Dialog Box object, with a full featured dialog box editor, which allows you to insert powerful dialog boxes into your application.
What files do I need to distribute with my stand-alone application?
None. The new versions have removed the need for any DLL file to be included with the Executable file (It is now extracted automatically when the file is run).
Can I run directly my application from a CD-ROM?
Yes. Just create your executable file and place it on the CDROM.
Where can I find additional extensions for MMF?
You can find lots of extension on Clickteam web site : connect to http://www.clickteam.com, click on the "Download" link, then click on Multimedia Fusion and scroll down the page to find the extensions. You will find a small text that describes the extension for each of them.
I've installed new extensions and they don't appear in MMF2! Help!
You will need to locate the extension once you have selected "Insert / New Object into Frame".
Can I develop my own extensions for MMF2?
Yes of course. You need Visual C++ 4.2 or above, good knowledge of C programming and the extension development kit, available in the Multimedia Fusion section of our Download area.
Are there any tutorials available for MMF2?
Yes, Clickteam have written a series of articles on Multimedia Fusion called "Getting the most of MMF". You can find a link to these articles in the bottom of the Multimedia Fusion page of our site. Remember that you can always post a question in the forum of our web-site : many users are willing to help.
How can I insert my Internet application in a Web page?
Clickteam have produced an internet plugin called "Vitalize" which allows you to play your applications on web pages. You will find there many games developed by users available for free. Connect to our web site and then click on the Vitalize link (in the right hand column) : all the information you need will be there.
My 320x200 full screen game doesn't switch to full screen mode on some machines. Why?
This problem usually happens when your computer is running an old version of DirectX, or if the drivers of your video card are quite old. Connect to the DirectX website (http://www.microsoft.com/directx) and download the latest version, or connect to the site of the manufacturer of your video card and download the latest drivers.
In which cases should I use the "Use VRAM" option in the Preferences?
You should try this option if the display is slow for an unknown reason and/or if you experience display refresh problems. Note: if you distribute a stand-alone application built with this option, and a user reports a display problem, tell him/her to use the /NOVR command line option to disable this option on his/her machine (create a shortcut to your application, edit its properties and add /NOVR to the command line).
Should I backup my games that Ive created?
Important - you should make backups of your applications on a regular basis. You wont realize how important a file was until you loose it. Ensure you have good backups of any important files.
